Mobile phone maker Palm has been long rumored to be working on the launch of a series of new handsets running under its webOS mobile operating system, and one of these devices has just made an appearance over at FCC, with the codename P102UEU attached to it.

At a first glance, it would appear that the new device should make an appearance on the market in Europe, most probably being set to arrive on shelves as the Palm Pre 2 smartphone that made it to the headlines recently.

Of course, nothing it official on it for the time being, but, with the phone maker confirming that webOS 2.0 devices would start arriving on shelves next year, we wouldn't be surprised if rumors pan out.

Until HP or Palm decide to share some more info on the new handset, we should have a look at what has been already uncovered on the new device, as a recent article on PreCentral points out.

For starters, we should note that the new device is expected to arrive on shelves with a 1GHz processor inside, which might be a similar single core solution as the one present inside Palm Pre at the moment.

We already knew that HP and Palm plan some “impressive” hardware to go along with the new webOS platform, and there are great chances that a 1GHz phone would be included into the mix, that's for sure.

The upcoming device is said to pack a 1150 mAh battery, the same as the current webOS phones include, while being a sliding device.

If a slider, the smartphone would be different from the Palm handset rumored not too long ago to come with the codename of “mansion” attached to it, and the fact that its FCC label reads '08F-ROAY' seems to confirm that, since it might turn out to be the rumored Roadrunner device that emerged this summer.

Other rumored details on the new device include its compatibility with Touchstone, a possible similar form factor with Palm Pre, or support for GSM and Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connectivity options.

We should also note that FCC won't unveil more info on this device until March next year, as Palm requested 180 days of confidentiality.

Hopefully, it won't be that long before HP and Palm decide to unveil additional details on this handset, so make sure to check with us again for more info on the new webOS device.
