Valve emphasizes that it wants to add more original heroes to Dota 2 over time, especially once it matches the roster of characters from the original Dota.

Dota 2 is one of the most popular online games in the world, with millions of players venturing into Valve's multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) title each month.

For quite some time, the studio has tried to replicate the roster of the original Warcraft 3 mod in terms of heroes, but every once in a while, Valve also added all-new heroes, such as Legion Commander.

Now, while talking with IGN, Valve's Erik Johnson has confirmed that once all the old Dota characters are in Dota 2, the studio is going to continue working on characters, as "Dota never stops."

For now a fan favorite, Techies is set to finally appear in Dota 2 and it's already been showcased at the Dota 2 The International 4 tournament earlier this month as part of an All-Star game.

Johnson has also taken the time to confirm that Dota 3 doesn't really "make sense" as "there’s no point where we say, 'Alright, we’re done. Let’s move on to the next one'."

As such, fans shouldn't worry about Valve abandoning Dota 2 or not keeping up with the original mod.
