On May 26, Opera Software, through Marcin Mitek, had the pleasure of announcing the immediate availability for download of a new development build of the upcoming Opera 31 web browser.

Being based on the open-source Chromium 44.0.2398.0 web browser, Opera Developer 31.0.1876.0 update comes with revamped Discover and Settings pages, as well as various under-the-hood improvements.

"We kept you waiting too long for the developer channel update. Sorry for that! It is here, finally," says Marcin Mitek. "Let’s start with under the hood stuff. Chromium has been updated to version 44.0.2398.0."

The new Opera 31 build also addresses an issue with the print preview page, as well as the disturbing MSE (Media Source Extensions) bug that caused numerous crashes when playing YouTube videos.

New style of buttons and controls, new Discover page

Among the user-visible changes, Opera 31 Build 1876.0 introduces a redesigned Settings page that features a brand new, appealing style for the search field, buttons, and various other controls present on the page.

Additionally, the Discover page has been redesigned with an all-new style that blends in perfectly with the rest of the graphical user interface of the web browser.

When switching between news categories, Opera users will notice that the revamped Discover page now also includes some attractive animations.

Last but not least, the Settings items of the Discover page has been moved into a separate section, instead of a drop-down menu, as it was available in previous versions of the application.

You can download Opera 31 Build 1876.0 for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from Softpedia, but please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version and bugs are still present. Thus, it is not recommended for deployment on production machines.
