OnyX, the multifunction utility for maintenance, optimization, and personalization, has been updated to version 2.1.5 Beta 2. It brings the improved display of the Maintenance Script Logs, deletion of temporary items and user cache, the ability to choose the panel to open automatically at launch, and more.

The developers of OnyX warn that this version is in beta, therefore users should not rely on this build. The software is aimed at those running Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard on their machines and brings the following set of changes, according to the release notes made public today: show/hide the alert message at first launch of downloaded applications; displaying the Maintenance Scripts Logs; deleting temporary items improved; deleting Mobile Devices CrashReporter; deleting Internet Cache improved; deleting User Cache improved; choose the panel to open automatically at launch; misc Minor modifications.

OnyX features diagnostic tools and allows users to delete caches and remove a certain number of files and folders that may become cumbersome, acting as a cleaning utility. OnyX provides the option to see detailed info of one's configuration and to save a Desktop before modifying and relaunching the Finder.

Users can modify its appearance – window transparency, the icon, the toolbar icons, and more. Working with all PowerPC and Intel computers running Mac OS X version 10.5 (Leopard), or Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard (Intel only), OnyX is available in any desired form. Versions supported by Mac OS X 10.4 (OnyX for Tiger), Mac OS X 10.3 (OnyX for Panther) and Mac OS X 10.2 (OnyX for Jaguar) are also available.
