Without a doubt, Olympus' Tough cameras have really managed to make a name for themselves, due to their enhanced level of resilience when subjected to adverse external conditions, and now, the camera maker is back with yet another product of this type, the TG-810.

However, the TG-810 really manages to stand out from the crowd, given the fact that it's touted as being the world's first compact digital camera that's crushproof up to 100 kilograms, meaning that a normal adult can easily sit/step on it without the camera suffering any internal or external damage.

But that's not all, since this rugged device is also touted as being waterproof, shockproof, freezeproof and scratch resistant, making it ideal of all of one's outdoor adventures.

Moving to the device's actual imaging options, we'll have to point out that the tough TG-810 model is built around a 14-megapixel sensor, coupled with a 5x wide optical zoom lens (28-140mm), as well as an advanced Dual Image Stabilization system.

Similar to most other compact digicams announced in 2010, the new TG-810 also offers a 3D photo shooting mode, while video capabilities are also present, although restricted to 720p recording.

Additional features worth mentioning about the new camera from Olympus include the TruePic III+ processor, the ISO range (80 through 1600), as well as the 3.0-inch 920,000 dot Super Precision HyperCrystal III LCD panel, that will provide a very good level of visibility regardless of the medium you might be shooting in (air, water, etc.).

Now, if you're the type of person that would normally find the OLYMPUS TOUGH TG-810 to be a particular good investment for your respective lifestyle, you should know that it's slated to become available in stores in late March 2011, for an estimated price point of around 270 pounds sterling (440 US dollars).
