Nvidia has announced the immediate availability for download of the 173.14.37 version of its graphics driver for Linux operating systems.

Nvidia is making great efforts for the Linux platform and is constantly improving the quality of its drivers, mostly by fixing problems spotted by the community.

This is an update for the latest Legacy Nvidia driver, hence the numbering used. We have gotten used to new releases, but Nvidia hasn't forgotten about people with older hardware.

Highlights of the Nvidia 173.14.37 Legacy driver:

• A dependency on libpangox, from the nvidia-settings binary shipped as part of the driver package, has been removed; • Support for X.org xserver ABI 14 (xorg-server 1.14) has been added; • Font rendering performance and corruption problems on X servers have been fixed.

A complete list of supported video cards and other changes can be found in the official announcement.
