The portal has 61 million active users

Ovi Store, Nokia's portal for content for users with handsets running under the company's Symbian operating system, was launched five months ago, and now the company has just unveiled a series of stats for the storefront. The figures show that the usage of the app portal is on the rise, with a 70 percent growth seen in October, when compared to the previous month.

According to Bill Perry, senior Services Marketing manager for Forum Nokia, there are 100 different Nokia devices (60+ Symbian S60 devices) that currently support the Nokia Ovi Store, and the portal has active users from a number of more than 180 countries around the world. Moreover, it seems that the number of users in the Ovi Store also grew, from 46 million to 61 million.

Other highlights from the announcement include: - Developers from 65 countries are distributing content - Top 10 Ovi Store Markets by performance in alphabetic order: Egypt, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Russia & UK - In almost all of the top 10 Ovi Store countries, 5800 XpressMusic and N97 are the #1 and #2 devices for Ovi Store activity and consumer engagement - Redownload now available and search is much improved, more details (http://tinyurl.com/yf9tmbd) - On average, each registered user has downloaded at least 8 items from Ovi Store

Bill Perry also unveiled the fact that almost all new compatible Nokia devices would feature Ovi Store embedded on them, including Symbian S60 and Series 40 from Q4 2009. At the same time, he also said that 8 countries around the world enjoy local content at the moment, as well as local language support and mobile billing, and that these are the UK, Spain, France, Germany, Singapore, Australia, Italy, Russia. The same should apply to more than 20 countries by the end of next year’s first quarter.
