Nokia has solved the problem of not having the resources needed for choosing between mobile and fixed landlines. The handset producer has just unveiled the Nokia 6301 device that packs in one case solutions for both these telecom types.

Nokia 6301 uses the Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) technology, which means that users have the chance of benefiting both from voice and data mobility through the GSM networks and WLAN networks as well. This should help users to save a great amount of money when placing their calls and also the operators, allowing them to deliver voice and data services to subscribers over WLAN, which considerably decreases the costs related to network deployment.

"The Nokia 6301 is a stylish new addition to our Unik range of converged fixed and mobile phones. Orange's Unik offer brings together the convenience of a single phone and tariff at home and on the move and the widest range of UMA handsets. The Nokia 6301, with its sleek candy bar design and attractive stainless steel exterior adds to the appeal of Unik for Orange customers", considers Yves Maitre, Senior Vice President, Devices at Orange.

The phone has a sleek design, with a stainless steel frame and hand-hugging curves. This makes it easy to handle and feels comfortable in just about any hand, especially as it has only 13.1 mm in thickness. Captures shot with the 2 megapixel camera should look pretty good on the 2 inch QVGA screen that the phone comes equipped with. Entertainment is provided through the MP3 player and FM radio. Other specifications also include Bluetooth and USB connectivity, as well as 128 MB of built-in memory and support for up to 4GB microSD cards.

Nokia 6301 will be available for purchase in Europe sometime by the end of this year, although a specific date has not been specified up to this point. The handset will come at the price of EUR 230 before subsidies or taxes.
