Darren Aronofsky is the kind of director that rarely disappoints, but his tackling a religious topic, the Noah story in his upcoming movie, means that even more eyes are now on him. Above is the brand new poster Paramount Pictures released for “Noah.”

Since this is a movie about a man chosen by God to build an ark on which to store pairs of every living thing on earth before a flood drowns the rest, the poster is simple and direct and, for this very reason, efficient: standing dead center is Russell Crowe, who plays Noah, hammer in hand, braving the elements in a most determined fashion.

He has his hands wrapped in cloth, which probably means that he’s just stopped working on his ark and, though you can’t see his face clearly, his furrowed brow hints that he’s not the kind of man you want to mess with.

“Noah” features a stellar cast, so the decision to have just Crowe on this poster speaks volumes of the kind of faith the studio has in the Oscar-winning actor and Aronofsky.

“Noah,” with Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth, Ray Winstone, and Anthony Hopkins, will be out in theaters on March 28, 2014. Do you plan on seeing it in theaters?
