A brand new system software update is now available for the Nintendo Wii U, taking the firmware version up to 2.1.3 U and bringing a few stability improvements.

The Nintendo Wii U came out last November and its release, while pretty successful, was hampered by a day-one firmware update that was quite large and often resulted in errors and broken consoles.

Since then, Nintendo has made sure to explain all the upcoming system software updates for the Wii U, and has now revealed, via Polygon, that a new firmware is being rolled out.

The update takes the console's software to version 2.1.3 U, weighs in at 30MB, and offers different stability improvements.

The Wii U is set to receive a much bigger firmware update this spring that will add new features and further improvements to the user interface, which is still filled with loading screens and lag.
