Nintendo has officially announced that, on May 9, those who are looking to pick up one of its home consoles on the American market will get a new bundle including the console itself, the Wii Sports videogame and the Nunchuk peripheral (which were already part of the package) but also the newer Wii Sports Resort package and the Wii Motion Plus system, designed to make the motion tracking of the Wiimote more accurate.

The price of the package will remain set at 200 dollars, which means new buyers essentially get about 50 dollars more in terms of value for the price they were already prepared to pay for the Nintendo Wii.

The company has also announced that it will be introducing the black-colored Wii home console to the American market, more than three years after the initial launch. Japan and Europe have had for some time the option to choose between black and white. The prototype Wii was also presented in colors like red and green but it's not clear whether the maker plans to actually introduce new colors for its console.

The Wii continues to be the best sold home gaming console in the United States, according to the figures published by the NPD Group. It's likely that Nintendo has made Wii Sports Resort and the Wii Motion Plus part of the main package in order to be sure that its console keeps its dominant position through the summer.

Nintendo is also seeing a problem in a segmentation of its audience, with those using the enhanced motion tracking getting few videogames supporting it, mainly because not enough people bought the Wii Motion Plus. More videogames employing the new solution might be coming in the period until the end of 2010 and the company is also hedging its bets, preparing for the launch of Project Natal from Microsoft and the PlayStation Move from Sony.
