Gamers will have to register a valid credit card to eliminate it

The big announcement coming from Nintendo last week was the fact that the company was getting ready to launch a New Nintendo 3DS handheld, which is designed to improve the hardware and the functionality of the hardware, while also integrating a Near Field Communications solution.

But a limited number of gamers have noticed that the company also has plans to integrate a new filter for the Internet browser in the new platform, which is apparently designed to make sure that children who use it cannot access a range of potentially harmful sites.

All those who want to deactivate the protection can do so by registering a valid credit card which will then be verified and charged 30 Yen, about 30 cents (20 Euro cents), according to Kotaku.

It is unclear whether the measure will also be applied to the Internet browser of the New Nintendo 3DS when it is launched in the West or whether the company will try to offer a less intrusive way of protecting young users.

The recently revealed handheld offers a more powerful platform on which gamers can experience new releases, but its launch is also linked to that of the Amiibo figurines, which will be offered before the end of the year and require NFC to work properly.
