One of the biggest photographic events of the year – Photokina is on our door step and we have just a few weeks to get ready for all the goodness that will be coming our way soon.

You might remember that not so long ago, rumor surfaced that Nikon is prepping a medium format camera, and if we’re lucky, we might see the device make a debut at Photokina, but information is quite scarce on the topic.

As we wait on that, the rumor mill has something to keep us busy with. According to the freshest batch of gossip brought to us by Nikon Rumors, the gear maker will come to Germany armed with a new DSLR camera.

This info comes from a seemingly very trusted source that says the shooter should fill the gap between the D610 and D810 models.

On top of revealing this important piece of information, the source was also kind enough to offer some insight to the specs the camera will arrive with.

According to them, the camera will bundle a 24-megapixel full frame image sensor and will draw life from and EXPPED 4 image processor.

Moving along, the upcoming camera will have an articulated display on the back and come equipped with Wi-Fi, allowing users to easily transfer content from the device to their mobile devices.

For the time being, we don’t have a concrete name for the device, but since the D620 and D750 names have been brought into discussion, we can speculate.

If we’re to get all hopeful, maybe the new shooter will be the true successor of the D700, which photographers have waited for ever since the advent of D800.

Many voices have been claiming that the D800 can’t be considered the real heir of the D700, so this could be exactly what photographers have been waiting and praying for.

The camera is expected to arrive with a lightweight body and a price tag revolving around the $2,500 / €1,836 margin.

However, we should point out that the Nikon Df is currently sitting somewhere between the D600 and D800, so at this stage it seems a little bit odd that Nikon plans to put another model on the market.

But given the fact that we only have a few bits and pieces of info, there’s no way we can complete the puzzle lying before us just yet. Stay tuned as we find out more about this new exciting camera.
