Nexus One by HTC is the next Android-based mobile phone all enthusiasts out there are eagerly waiting for. The handset, which runs under the Android 2.1 flavor of the platform, is expected to make an official appearance into the wild as soon as tomorrow, January 5, when Google is rumored to announce/launch it at a press conference that was set in place about a week ago. The handset was seen for a period of time more as a myth rather than reality, yet now more live photos with it emerged, as well as some additional specs that add to the long list most of you might know already.

The new photos with Nexus One emerged into the wild via Engadget, which got their own unit and played around with it a little. The phone is said to come to the market via Google and Google only, though it will be supported by T-Mobile USA, it seems, a carrier that will have it on its airwaves from day one. The Android 2.1 platform is believed to go along just fine with the 1GHz Snapdragon processor inside Nexus One, as well as with the phone's 512MB of ROM and 512MB of RAM.

Among the specifications the upcoming handset sports, we can count a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, which boasts a 480 x 800 pixel resolution, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash, light sensor, proximity sensor, and accelerometer, as well as support for T-Mobile's 3G networks, in addition to an impressively thin form factor. The Android flavor on it is said to be pretty fast, and to show a series of visual enhancements and UI tweaks that have been rumored already. Some new photos with Nexus One are available below, and those of you who would like to learn more on what Engadget has to say about the handset and its platform should head here, where a video with the device is also available.

Since the expected launch date for the phone is only one day apart, we should take a look at some of the rumors and news on Nexus One that emerged lately. First of all, we have BGR stating that T-Mobile might not be the only carrier to enjoy the phone on its network, and that an AT&T-enabled version is also under development. The best part is that it will be an unlocked version, it seems, unlike the T-Mobile one, which is locked on the operator's airwaves. At the same time, we've also learned that the Nexus One has been already rooted, with all the necessary details available here.
