Now that Nexus 4 has been on the market for almost half a year, more and more rumors on the next Google phone model are starting to emerge online, the latest of which claiming that the device will sport a more compact design than its predecessors.

According to a recent article on PhoneArena, the smartphone is set to arrive on shelves with a 4.5-inch 720p IPS screen, paired with a very thin bezel.

Furthermore, the more compact design of the smartphone is said to translate into longer battery life, to which Google would add higher camera capabilities.

Interestingly enough, the phone’s sensor is said to be a 9-megapixel CCD, which is, in fact, slower at processing images than CMOS sensors, it seems.

Overall, it seems rather strange for Google to opt for a smaller design on Nexus 5, after launching Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4 with 4.65’’ and 4.7’’ screens, respectively, so we’ll take this with a grain of salt.
