“New Moon,” the second “Twilight” film, is still a rather long way to go and, what with fans expressing their impatience on various forums, Summit Entertainment has made the decision to show a clip of the film at the Rome Film Festival. The event takes place between 15 and 23 October, Twilight Italia says, and chances are this could actually be a new clip.

The Italian fansite got word of the special treat for all “Twilight” fans straight from Piaceri Forti, who is in charge of the Rome Film Festival, and who posted on his blog the announcement regarding the “New Moon” clip. Although the post makes no mention of whether the footage to be shown soon is the same as the clips we’ve already seen on various occasions, word among fans has it that it could be a new one – or at least one a bit different from the segments already shown to the public, they say.

Below is the full announcement from Forti, possible via Google Translate. However, fans fluent in Italian can check it out directly on Twilight Italia.

“Last year, the preview presentation of the ‘Twilight’ arrival at the Rome International Film Festival of the two protagonists of the film, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, unleashed a veritable pandemonium on the red carpet of Auditorium. This year, for several months (the last was in KK last night’s comments) I keep getting requests and questions if something is done to Rome for ‘New Moon,’ the second chapter of the saga by Stephenie Meyer, to be released later in the sale on November 20. The answer is yes, I will do here in absolute preview: Festival (scheduled in Rome between 15 and 23 October), there will be an event that will cover ‘New Moon,’ but at present do not yet know who will be present […] because everyone is busy on the set to turn Canadian ‘Eclipse,’ the new chapter. However, we know that we are working for you, but I would not rely too much on Pattinson... can count on your passion...”

As Forti also points out, the entire cast is now in Vancouver, shooting for the third film in the series, “Eclipse,” which means Summit might not be willing to dispense of them to attend the film festival. However, even if no star graces the red carpet, a new clip from the film might be just the thing to make the day of millions of Twilighters around the world, who are already on their toes with anticipation, waiting for an official confirmation of this.
