You'd think that a technology company would look for potential leading figures in its same industrial field, but that's not what NVIDIA did.

Instead, the Santa Clara, California-based corporation has named Dawn Hudson as member of its board of directors.

For those who don't recognize the name, Dawn Hudson was the CEO of PepsiCo's American beverage business until not long ago.

Before that, she held key positions at advertising agencies like DMB&B (D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles) and Omnicom.

Hudson has a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College. She is now the tenth member of NVIDIA's BOD.

Obviously, her role will be to raise awareness of NVIDIA's products and help secure OEM and manufacturing deals.

"We are delighted to have Dawn join NVIDIA's board of directors," said Jen-Hsun Huang, president and chief executive officer, NVIDIA. "She has been a senior executive at one of America's great companies and has extensive experience as a company director."
