It seems that NEC has once again updated its collection of monitors, though it definitely did not stay in the realms of affordability and, instead, gave it a very high resolution and various assets that are guaranteed to be enjoyed by professionals.
When making a consumer-oriented monitor, display makers don't have to go out of their way when it comes to performance.
All they have to do is make sure the resolution is at least HD (1,366 x 768 pixels), if not Full HD-ready (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) and put in matching brightness and contrast.
Granted, energy efficiency and affordability are also concerns, but they vary depending on user demand and supplier choice.
In the case of professional displays, however, companies seem to feel that performance and, most importantly, image quality goes before price.
NEC definitely kept that in mind when it made the MultiSync PA301W, a monitor with a screens size of no less than 30 inches.
It comes with a 10-bit P-IPS panel and has a native resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, one that should provide a high productivity and image quality something designers will appreciate.
107% of the Adobe RGB color gamma is covered and NEC also threw in a built-in 14-bit LUT, plus a 3D LUT, for smooth color reproduction and precise color space emulation, respectively.
Other specifications include a response time of 6ms GTG (gray to gray), a brightness of 350 cd/m2, a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 and multiple connectivity options.
To be more specific, there are the expected DisplayPort and two DVI, but also an USB hub.
Finally, the outfit added a built-in carbon saving meter and a stand with tilt, pivot, rotation and 150mm height adjustment.
For professionals that are considering a new purchase, European stores should already be listing the NEC MultiSync PA301W for 2259 Euro or so.
