DLC also coming

Splinter Cell: Conviction is set to offer new multiplayer mechanics, when compared to previous titles in the series, which were focused on the mercenaries versus spies battle. Apparently, the new stealth action videogame from Ubisoft is also set to receive DLC, following the trend of all AAA titles released in the last year.

Alexandre Parizeau, who is a producer on Conviction for Ubisoft, stated quite clearly, while speaking to Joystiq, that “We're going to have a multiplayer, but I can't talk about it anymore than that. It's part of the things we're going to announce during the summer.” We probably won't see a lot of clones of Sam Fischer running around, so multiplayer will probably be somehow based around characters drawn from the organization that will be featured in Splinter Cell: Conviction.

As for the planned downloadable content for the title, Parizeau said that it would all be created at Ubisoft Montreal and that the development was going on at the same time as the game itself was receiving its finishing touches. It will be interesting to see whether Ubisoft offers more missions for the main character via DLC or whether the company plans to just offer the usual assortment of new weapons, costumes and perks for multiplayer.

Splinter Cell: Conviction was shown at this year’s edition of E3 after a period in which some even speculated that the series was canceled and several re-designs were made to the original concept. A lot of analysts liked what they saw and stated that it was the most interesting Xbox 360 game that they had watched at the event.

Sam Fischer is expected to return on the shelves of game stores sometime during the fall. Or maybe he'll use stealth and delay the launch a couple of months in order to appear sometime in 2010.
