Mobile phone maker Motorola is reportedly planning the launch of a new handset in the popular DROID lineup, one that should arrive on shelves sometime in the fourth quarter of this year, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

The new device is expected to be announced with a next-generation Kevlar material included in its build, as well as with a larger screen ratio when compared to previous models in the series.

According to a post on PhoneArena, the upcoming mobile phone is expected to feature more screen on the front when compared to its actual dimensions.

What remains to be seen is whether the overall dimensions of the handset will be increased as well, or only the screen, which should be accompanied by smaller bezels either way.

The specific dimensions of the new DROID haven’t been revealed as of now, and it remains to be seen whether this will arrive as the recently rumored 6.3-inch phablet from Motorola, or as a completely new device.

Considering the fact that this will be a DROID handset, we can also expect it to arrive on Verizon’s network, the same as other phones in the series did. No info on the device’s name has been unveiled either, but specifics might emerge soon, so stay tuned to learn the news.
