Motorola DROID Bionic was one of the mobile phones that Verizon announced in early January as being set to come to its 4G LTE network, but the device was delayed not too long ago for an indefinite period of time.

Motorola announced then that it would aim at making some changes to the handset's design, and photos of what appears to be the new Motorola DROID Bionic have just made an appearance into the wild.

Rumor has it that the new model would arrive on shelves not only with new looks, but also with a series of hardware changes.

Apparently, the mobile phone maker decided to replace the Nvidia Tegra 2 application processor inside the original DROID Bionic with a TI OMAP dual-core processor, something that was already confirmed through benchmarks.

There is no official explanation on what determined Motorola to replace the chip, especially since Nvidia claims that its silicone had no issue with Verizon's LTE network.

Moreover, the mobile phone is expected to arrive on shelves with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for 1080p HD video recording.

It would also sport a new flavor of Motoblur loaded on Google's Android operating system, the same UI iteration that arrived on shelves loaded on the Motorola DROID X2.

Other features of the new device would include connectivity to a laptop dock, just as Motorola Atrix 4G came to the market with.

All in all, it appears that Motorola and Verizon are gearing up for the launch of a great device, though it remains to be seen how much of the above would actually pan out.

Motorola announced about a month ago that it has delayed the DROID Bionic due to some changes to its design, but did not offer specific info on what was set to be modified.

The company did not unveil details on when the new version of Motorola DROID Bionic might arrive on shelves either, but chances are that it would become official before the summer is over. In the meantime, have a look at the photos available courtesy of MobileGearz.
