The Weather Channel Interactive (TWCi) announced on Wednesday that a new version of its Mobile Web site had been launched. The new Mobile Web 3.0 site comes around with animated radar weather maps and with a series of improvements for its current conditions pages, so that customers will be able to enjoy the latest weather forecasts.

The new website, the company says, can be accessed via mobile phones like the iPhone, iTouch, G1, G2, and Palm Pre, and will deliver users customizable interfaces as well as new content. Moreover, it seems that the new Weather Channel mobile site has been designed so as to offer one of the most comprehensive and user-friendly experiences currently available on mobile Web.

“Based on customer feedback and advanced research, the newest version of our Mobile Web site is one of the most advanced sites available,” said Cameron Clayton, vice president of mobile at TWCi. “Allowing customers to personalize the site to best fit their weather needs gives them instant access to the relevant and accurate weather information they are most interested in.”

The new weather.com site for mobile offers users the possibility to customize the homepage to show the weather content that is most relevant to them. According to the company, customers will be able to choose customizations for airport delays, current conditions, severe weather alerts, school day forecast and pollen activity.

Moreover, it seems that future forecasts will also come via hourly, 36-hour, 10-day, school day and weekend reports, and there will also be fresh content available on the site's Pets section, including overnight low, pet comfort index, and mosquito activity. Another section of the site, Green Living, will come with daily conservation tips, and there will also be a variety of photo galleries available.

The new Mobile Web 3.0 site will also preserve some of the popular features that were present on the previous version, including local video forecasts, local and national weather maps, and more. More information can be found on www.weather.com/mobile.
