A new Mirror’s Edge was announced during E3 2013, but long-term fans of the game are a bit worried by the fact that the reveal trailer includes shooting, which was never one of the focuses of the initial experience.

Patrick Bach, who is an executive producer working at DICE, says that his team will aim to innovate while keeping the core gameplay unchanged in order to appeal to fans.

The developer understands the delicate balance between new ideas and a focus on already tested mechanics.

He tells IGN that, “We need to always remind ourselves what the game is at its core so we don’t move away from that.”

Mirror’s Edge will be created with the new Frostbite 3 engine and will be launched on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.
