While no doubt waiting for NVIDIA's launch of the GTX 570 before it can follow with its own version, MSI figured it would pass the time by unveiling a new small form factor motherboard for industrial applications.

Even though it has not stopped periodically updating its consumer-oriented hardware portfolio, Micro-Star international took some time to put together a new mini-ITX board.

The new product that the company came up with is one dubbed MSI IM-PV-C and is based on the Intel Pine Trail platform, the same one that is used in everything from netbooks and nettops to embedded products.

What this means is that the board can be outfitted with an Atom N455, D425 or D525 CPU, plus the Intel ICH8M chipset.

All of them are single-core chips, except the D525, which is a dual-core model.

There are also two DDR3-800 SO-DIMM slots, which means that one can put in up to 4 GB of DDR3 RAM (random access memory).

Furthermore, MSI threw in three SATA II ports, as well as various on-board I/O, such as eight USB 2.0 ports and and the Intel 82574L GbE LAN.

Not only that, but the newcomer boasts even one Intel 82567V GbE LAN and multiple video outputs, LVDS, VGA and DVI to be more specific.

Other specifications include a power supply with ATX and Wide Range Voltage Input for DC Sku (12~24V) and Realtek ALC887VD audio.

The press release made a point of mentioning that MSI's mini-ITX mainboard was fully capable of playing 1,080p videos.

All in all, MSI describes this creation as “an ideal low power and high performance solution for industrial applications.”

Those interested in getting a first-hand view of the new platform's specifications need only drop by MSI's website and take a look at the press release itself, located here.
