She’s been working on a new album almost by herself

Miley Cyrus’ last album came out in 2013, “Bangerz,” and was followed by a tour that wrapped in 2014. She hasn’t released any new music since but that’s not to say she hasn’t been recording.

In fact, she tells this month’s issue of Paper Magazine, the one in which she comes out as genderqueer and bisexual, she’s been working on her next album almost on her own.

“I don’t have to have writers, I don’t have to have [expletive]-ing producers in there,” she says. “Mike Will will text me a beat, and I’ll go in my studio and work on it by myself.”

She wants to see where this experiment carries her, and even though her people are worried about her next release, she refuses to put pressure on herself in terms of completing it by a certain deadline.

Meanwhile, fans get to listen to a sample of her ongoing efforts, as a track called “Nightmare” has popped up online. It’s a Dr. Luke production: he previously worked with Miley on her smashing hit “Wrecking Ball.”

As you can see in the tweet below, back in May, Dr. Luke compared the two tracks, saying that “Nightmare” was like the little sister of “Wrecking Ball,” only more uptempo.
