Microsoft is readying a new Lumia phone that could be launched in the United States in the coming months, and although no details have come out of the Redmond company officially, documents posted on FCC’s website confirm that such a device has big chances to see daylight in the next few months.

The new Lumia device is currently referred to as RM-1090, and although it doesn’t have an official name, some people believe that it could actually be just a dual-SIM version of an existing device.

But while the revealed dimensions do bring it close to the Lumia 830, other technical specifications indicate that it might actually be a different model, so the information we have remains quite vague right now.

Since the phone is already mentioned in FCC’s documents, chances are that Microsoft could unveil it before the holiday season, but the company is yet to provide any official announcement on such a project.

Technical specifications

At this point, little can be said about the device, but the documents show that the upcoming Lumia phone measures 139.9mm x 71.1mm, so it could come with a 5-inch display. As WindowsPhoneDaily writes, it could be similar to the Lumia 830, at least in terms of dimensions, but it also includes some new features, among which a BL-L4A battery which hasn’t been used before.

At the same time, the RM-1090 will come with dual-SIM support, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, support for GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900; HSUPA/WCDMA900 (Band 8) and HSUPA/WCDMA2100 (Band 1).

More information comes from AdDuplex, which has recently spotted a device labeled as RM-1090 in its logs, with the existing details pointing to a 960×540 qHD resolution display.

Designed for China

AdDuplex said that the new Lumia was mostly used in China and Taiwan, so Microsoft could specifically target Asian markets with the new release.

Microsoft is trying to make the most of the growing Chinese market, but the company needs to actually focus on more affordable devices in order to compete with Android in this particular country.

At this point, cheap Android devices continue to rule the Chinese market, and judging by the specs we have here, it’s pretty obvious that Microsoft’s new Lumia phone, if it’s indeed designed for the Chinese, is very unlikely to come with a small price tag.

More information, however, will most likely be provided in the coming weeks, as we’re getting closer to the launch date of the new phone, no matter if it’s happening in China or any other market.
