Corsair announced today that a new record in DDR3 memory frequency has been set by Corsair Labs. An astonishing speed of 2462MHz at CL=9 with a single-rank 1GB module has been achieved by the Corsair Labs, this being the new world record verified and validated by CPU-Z, a reference point that eclipses all other memory benchmarks previously validated by CPU-Z.

The new record speed was set by Corsair's DOMINATOR DDR3 memory module on an Asus P5E3 Premium motherboard using the Intel X48 chipset. Corsair, one of the leading high performance computer and flash memory product manufacturers, with a wide range of memory modules in its portfolio, holds now the record for the fastest 1GB DDR3 memory module.

"Corsair is obsessed with pushing memory technology to its limits and beyond", said Martin Mueller, Senior Director of Engineering, Corsair. "This World Record demonstrates the over-clocking and high speed memory expertise within Corsair Labs and definitely pushes the memory enthusiast community to achieve even faster, more outrageous speeds."

Corsair has developed the DOMINATOR family of memory modules using the ultimate in performance technology engineering. Equipped with Corsair's patented DHX cooling solution, DOMINATOR is able to provide the highest performing IC overclocking capability. DHX Technology maximizes thermal dissipation through its innovative four sink design, allowing the optimization of memory performance.

The DHX Technology provides two ways of decreasing the heat: the convective cooling, which requires having the leads of the BGA chips (Ball Grid Array) into PCB (Polychlorinated biphenyls), and the conductive cooling, acquired through the custom designed extruded aluminum heat sinks that are set on the back of the BGA packages. The DOMINATOR modules remain stable and reliable even when performing at outstanding overclocking levels.

Corsair's DOMINATOR is an award winning memory module, available through Corsair retailers. The company offers a lifetime warranty for its memory products, along with a complete customer support, available via telephone, email, forum or TSXpress helpdesk.

i wonder how many ppl are really going to use that speed anytime soon. most ppl using ddr3 are using x38 chipset and atleast mine is stable only to 1800mhz ( stable meaning that it wont crash if i use it few days with boinc) and yes my chipset is water cooled.

I would be happier if they made 1600-1800 memmories with lower latensies... below cl5 would be nice.
