There are a lot of first person shooter franchises out there, as it is a very popular genre and many people want to experience just what it is like to enter a battlefield and try to turn the tide in your favor and eventually win the battle.

One of the most proficient franchises in the genre is Electronic Arts' Medal of Honor series, which has entertained people through various recreations of famous World War II scenarios. But even though it has a lot of fans around the world, things have gotten quiet in regard to a new project.

We've even heard EA boss John Riccitiello say that he doesn't have anything to say about a new MoH project. But now, thanks to an inside source at EA Los Angeles, which has handled the development of the series, we have found out some big details on the fabled MoH: Operation Anaconda project and how Six Days in Fallujah completely changed it.

Our source has revealed that Operation Anaconda was set to be based on the mission that happened in Afghanistan in March 2002, and was proposed by Patrick Gilmore, who thought that reality could be better than fiction in this case. A lot of consultants were brought in and the project really took off thanks to input from former Delta commanders and documentary directors which have had first hand combat experience.

But sadly the controversy surrounding Konami's Six Days in Fallujah appeared and people were starting to militate against such a thing, saying that the war was still fresh in the minds of many people and the memory of fallen soldiers couldn't be honored through video games.

It is at this point that EA became worried and fired Patrick Gilmore, replacing him with Greg Goodrich. The project is now taking a different route, which will base it in a fictional scenario. Also, the large company went to great lengths and did a lot of focus testing with Muslim and Middle Eastern audiences in order to be sure that it wouldn't be offensive in any way.

The title will still keep its pro-soldier and pro-military traits though, as many soldiers and active officers have been brought in to test it in order for the feel of the battles to be as true as possible to the real thing.

Lastly, our source confirmed that it would be released in summer 2010 from EA LA and published by EA.

Damn,
Why modern war? If they wish to leave WWII, go to the Vietnam war, not another modern shooter... T.T

looks pretty cool. i think this game has a lot of potential. everybody thinks mw2 is the best fps on the market right now but his game could knock it out

Modern Warfare? I never thought I'd see Medal of Honor do that. I'm not impressed.

I agree that MoH should not have pushed into the "modern warfare" scene but.... I understand that many people are getting tired of the same old WWII game. In all seriousness WWII shaped not only the entire world but the face of war and deserves much more attention than just the Nazis which many games tend to center around. I guess all we can do is wait and see that the future brings but I personally would like to see some fictional WWII games where the tides of war change in favor of the axis or somthing along those lines. I dunno maybe I am just crazy........ Merry Christmas!

I THINK THE WHOLE REASON THEY HAVE GONE TO MODERN IS, THEY SEE THE NUMBERS THAT COD, AND BAD COMPANY ARE PULLING AND ARE THINKING HEY, LETS TAKE OUR PIECE OF THAT PIE. AND LETS BE HONEST GUYS THE MAJORITY OF THE GAMING COMMUNITY IS TIRED OF WW2 GAMES, VIETNAM I THINK WOULD BE A LITTLE CHALLENGING BUT NOT A BAD IDEA. I HOPE THEY DO GOOD WITH THIS GAME BEST OF LUCK TO THEM

Vietnam would mainly be killing civilians though, unless you were Vietnamese and I bet there'd be an uproar then.
MoH was such a brilliant game back in the day, The Rising Sun is one of the best I've ever played. I don't see why they would wish to deviate from WW2 because that's what they did well, but they probably want a share of that overpolluted (in my opinion) market.
I'm looking forward to seeing how this pans out.

I love playing the ww2 games. If they could just keep finding scenerios and all out urban warfare, I'm sure many players would agree that ww2 games aren't going down in flames but rather growing stagnant with the kill a few Nazis move up kill a few Nazis end mission idea. Put a game on the shelves in which you must fight to liberate an entire city and each decision leads to a different outcome to the battle. Long live moh!

i think that its good that medal of honor is going in a different direction. i really think that some1 should make a game about desert storm that is a 1st person shooter like this and call of duty or about the war in baghdad because its partically modern warfare and partical war

Then join the army then, or watch the fucking news, instead of playing PC all day....

MOH should've stayed WWII, modern shitfare games are boring and stupid and most of the players that play them are 17 yrs old or younger chavs.....
Anyway thanks EA for ruining another great genre like you did with command and conquer!....-.-
