Players become explorers offering new hope to humanity

BioWare fans might still be playing Dragon Age: Inquisition, but the studio seems to be already deep in the development process for the new Mass Effect title and some core features have leaked via an online survey for fans.

A gamer on Reddit has posted a wealth of details about the game that were collated from a wide-ranging questionnaire that some of the long-time veterans of the series were able to access.

The new Mass Effect will take place in the Helius star cluster of the Andromeda galaxy, ensuring that no connection remains to the saga of Commander Shepard, where the player will take on the role of an explorer searching for a new home for the human race.

Because this area of space has never been mapped, gamers will have to tread carefully, dealing with alien races, a mysterious set of new planets and unique challenges.

The size of the world will be four times that of the galaxy in Mass Effect 3 and BioWare is aiming to create entirely new situations for players, which will test both their combat skills and their ability to use diplomacy.

Colonization is the main aim of the game, and that means players will have to upgrade their exploration ship, enhance their arsenal and improve their crew as they deal with aliens and find out where humanity will thrive.

The Remnant will be a central plot point, an alien race that has left behind ruins and tech that can be harnessed in order to make sure that humanity survives.

The survey suggests that choices will be at the core of the experience and that gamers will have to find ways to ally themselves with aliens and pirate factions in order to reach their goals.

Mass Effect will expand on Dragon Age mechanics

So far, BioWare has not officially announced the coming game, although it has reassured fans that the franchise will live on.

With the Commander Shepard storyline done, the studio will have to expand on the mechanics of the franchise to keep gamers interested.

It seems that some of the ideas seen in Dragon Age: Inquisition, including interaction with party members and base development, will also be included in the new title.

The new Mass Effect will probably be officially revealed this year and might get officially launched sometime in late 2016 or early 2017.
