New Mass Effect 3 Video Shows Off Its Voice Recording Process

BioWare has deployed a brand new video about Mass Effect 3’s development process, specifically how the voice over department manages to work with individual actors and make sure their lines sync up in terms of intensity and overall tone.

Mass Effect 3 is set to be a sprawling game, with Commander Shepard going on his (or her) last set of adventures to save Earth and the whole galaxy.

As any BioWare role playing game, the new title will have large amounts of dialog, ranging from combat taunts to full pledged conversations.

While BioWare can’t really get together its actors and have them talk in real life, similar to the development process of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted franchise, the video above shows off its own voice recording process.

Throughout it, special tools are used to ensure that the overall tone of the conversations is kept, while a special ‘intensity matrix’ allows the producers to fine tune the volume of the dialog.

Mass Effect 3 is out on March 6, for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Until then, check out the trailer above which sees the voice acting part start around the 2:10 mark.
