The Manjaro Linux development team announced a few days ago that a new update is available for its stable operating systems, Manjaro Linux 0.8.12, bringing all sorts of improvements and the latest versions of pre-installed components.

The Manjaro Update 2015-04-06 package is the sixth one for Manjaro Linux 0.8.12. It comes with the latest version of the supported Linux kernels, including Linux 3.10, 3.13, 3.14, 3.16, 3.18, and 3.19.

The LightDM package also got an update and it is now at version 1.14.0, so you should see some small improvements at the login screen. The internal Python 2, PHP, uWSGI, MinGW, and xf86-drivers packages were also updated.

Manjaro Linux KDE received KDE Plasma 5.2.2

The KDE edition of the Manjaro Linux distribution received the recently announced KDE Plasma 5.2.2 desktop environment, which includes a considerable amount of changes that make the desktop more reliable and useful.

The Pamac package manager tool got updated too and it is now at version 2.2.2-1. This release fixes issue number 37 that affected updates from AUR (Arch User Repository). The Octopi GUI package manager was updated to version 0.7.0 RC1.

Moreover, the Mozilla Firefox web browser was updated to the latest stable version at the moment of writing this article, 37.0.1, and the Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client is now at version 31.6.0, the latest stable release.

The Manjaro Installer received LUKS encryption

As reported by Softpedia last week, the Manjaro Linux Installer got a major update that will be implemented in the upcoming Manjaro Linux 0.8.13 operating system, the last one for the stable 0.8.x series.

Thus is now used as the main installer and it includes LUKS (Linux Unified Key Setup) encryption in the Advanced Mode for manual partitioning, new slides created by David Linares, PEPified code, a tweaked user interface, an optional bootloader installation in all modes.

In addition, the Thus installer got a fix for the forward labeling issue, for the slide order in check issue, for various translation issues, as well as for a crash that occurred when detecting Solid State Drives (SSDs). Several translations were updated too.
