The Manjaro development team, through Philip Müller, announced this past weekend the immediate availability of a new update for the current stable branch of the Manjaro Linux operating system.

Manjaro Update 2015-05-08 is available now for all Manjaro Linux 0.8.12 users and it comes with a rebuilt kernel that supports MultiMediaCard (MMC), which means that you can now install the operating system directly from an SD card.

Additionally, Manjaro Linux 0.8.12 now moves to an all-new vmlinuz/initramfs format, and Syslinux users are urged to adopt it as soon as possible. All the available kernels are now correctly organized in the GRUB bootloader menu.

"We are happy to announce our eight update for Manjaro 0.8.12," says Philip Müller on behalf of the Manjaro development team. "This time we rebuilt all our kernels and added MMC support to them. [...] Currently with our 0.8.13 dev-build this is already possible."

Octopi 0.7 has been included and brings lots of new features

In addition, Manjaro Update 2015-05-08 fixes various critical issues with the KDE Applications 15.04 software suite, updates Calligra, LibreOffice, and other important packages to their latest versions, and includes all the regular updates from the upstream Arch Linux repositories as of May 2, 2015.

The Octopi graphical package manager has been updated to version 0.7 and brings important new features, such as support for Pacaur (again), a new AUR tool button on the toolbar, a new tool called SysInfo that lets users share their system information to the Internet, support for saving package list column sizes, and major speed improvements.

The new Octopi version has been optimized to support faster package filtering and faster package list building. In addition, the horizontal scroll bar has been removed from the AUR mode, and a Setup dialog has been added to the built-in notifier, allowing users to set an interval for package checking.
