The people at uncomplex gmbh have released a new version of Mailplane, their tool for Mac OS X users and fans of the Gmail desktop mail client from Google. The new version delivers a number of fixes to improve performance, as well as new additions, like a new crash reporter, a new way to view images, and more.

Mailplane allows users to attach files, send optimized photos, instantly send screenshots and pictures from iPhoto, store passwords in keychain, perform downloads, and more, all backed by the built-in, sound-notification system, or Growl. The program brings Google Mail's SPAM protection, endless storage and global access, and the UI friendliness of one's Mac.

According to the release notes for Mailplane 2.0.11 Build 992, uncomplex gmbh has been able to fix an issue where the unread message counter didn't update because of Gmail's new label system. Also, Mail -> Go to -> Navigate (Command-Option-G) now supports the improved Gmail labels. Fixes include:
- "Mail -> Go to -> Navigate" didn't work with labels on right side.
- Snow Leopard – downloading and installing the license didn't work.
- Advanced attachment features didn't work in replies.
- Some mailtoURLs inside emails didn't open a compose window.

Also new in this release is an improved Turkish translation, which uncomplex gmbh thanks Mehmet Fatih Yigit for. As mentioned a few lines above, a crash reporter dialog is now available at startup. The reporter only shows when you experienced a crash before starting again, according to the developers. One last change mentioned is the ability to shrink images to window size when viewed in a separate window.

Mailplane requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later and can be downloaded as a trial version using the link below. The trial is good for 30 days from the moment you start using the app. When this period expires, you must purchase a license (USD 24.95) in order to continue using Mailplane’s unique features.
