During the launch event of its Surface tablets, Microsoft also showcased some of the features and capabilities of the devices, including their ability to stream videos or copy files at ease.

During the presentation, the Metro Start screen of these devices appeared a few times, showing modified icons for some of the most popular services from Microsoft.

The entire Metro Start screen appeared to be different of what we grew accustomed to in Windows 8 Release Preview, showing that Microsoft is making new changes to the platform.

Among these modifications, we can count new logos for SkyDrive and Windows Store, which offer a glimpse at what the final Windows 8 Start screen might actually look like.

As LiveSide points out, the clouds in the SkyDrive icon appear to be facing the other way, while the yellow ribbon is gone.

At the same time, the Windows Store icon has the Windows 8 logo placed on the shopping bag in the new design.

The Bing Metro-style application also appears to have received a new logo, which is accompanied by a new icon for the recently launched Sports app.

Some changes to the Office logos present on the Metro Start screen on the Surface for Windows RT tablet were also observed during the presentation.

These modified logos can be seen on the official press photos that Microsoft has released with the Surface tablets as well, and they can also be spotted in the video ad that the Redmond-based software giant released for them.

All in all, it appears that they might be the actual new logos that Microsoft has in store for users, which would also reflect a set of changes that have been long rumored to be en-route to its various services.

Microsoft already confirmed plans to make a series of changes to the Windows 8 UI before the final flavor arrives on shelves later this year, and it seems that it is well on the way of applying them to its platform.
