Microsoft has introduced an update to Live Framework, delivering support for the next iteration of the Windows client, Windows 7, as well as for the successor of IE7, namely Internet Explorer 8. According to Microsoft, the various components of the Live Framework have all evolved to new version numbers, with Live Framework Developer Sandbox moving to 0.9.3904.1; Live Framework Client to 0.9.3904.1; Live Framework SDK to 0.9.3904.1; and Live Framework Tools to 1.0.20309.3. Essentially, what Microsoft delivered is the April 2009 Community Technology Preview (CTP) update of the Live Framework SDK and tools.

“This update includes: Support for side-by-side installation of the www.mesh.com local client and the developer.mesh-ctp.com local client. This means that you can use the production Mesh.com to sync data across all your devices, and develop applications for the Mesh Developer Sandbox that uses the local client - all on the same machine. Single installer for the Live Framework SDK and the Live Framework Tools for Microsoft Visual Studio. Resource Scripts are now supported in Silverlight applications and with the local Live Operating Environment,” revealed Kevin Ledley, Senior Program Manager Lead.

At the same time, the update brings to the table both the software development kit and the associated tools via the Download Center. Microsoft has also made sure that the client and the Cloud-based Live Operating Environment would offer testers a higher level of stability. In addition, developers will be able to enjoy a performance boost, as well as design enhancements when it comes down to the API toolkits.

“The Live Framework CTP April 2009 CTP includes everything you need in order to quickly build rich, connected, data-sharing applications using Live Services. This CTP includes both the Live Framework SDK and the Live Framework Tools for Microsoft Visual Studio,” Ledley added.
