For people that feel like the phone app just isn't enough

The walkman has come a long way, from the good old portable cassette player to today's versions, which essentially amount to smartphones without the actual smartphone capabilities.

Most people are probably going to settle for the Sony Walkman Android app, which works on phones and tablets alike.

Still, Sony has found that there are still plenty of people willing to buy a physical walkman, so it launched a few new ones, like the ZX1 and F880 series.

They merge the benefits of a 1 GHz dual-core CPU with a 854 x 480 touch screen, and have an "S-Master HX" digital amp and high-res audio playback (AIFF, ALAC, FLAC and WAV in 192kHz/24bit).

As if that weren't enough, they come with NFC, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless support as well.

Couple that with the Android 4.1 OS and you can play games and run any Google Play app on it, not just music. Truly, it's like a phone without voice call support.

The F880 walkmans (apparently, it's not walkmen) come in 16 GB ($273 / €202), 32 GB ($304 / €225) and 64 GB ($405 / €299). They will be colored black, blue, pink or white.

The ZX1, meanwhile, with 128 GB, is priced at $760 / €562. It will ship on December 7.
