The Firefly LED can really make a difference in terms of not wasting resources

Should things go as planned, one company in Austin, Texas could soon present us with a new type of lightbulbs which cut down electricity costs by 90% and which can last for about 40 years without needing replacement.

Apparently, these Firefly LEDs would last for such extended periods of time thanks to a heat-sink which reduces their temperature by 32%, thus prolonging their life.

Interestingly enough, it seems that once these lightbulbs pass their expiration date, all that needs be done in order to set them back on track is replacing a tiny LED inside them, rather than purchasing brand new ones.

It may be true that these Firefly LED bulbs are quite likely to sell for about $35 (€26.87), but the truth is that they will more than pay for themselves in 40 years' time.
