Updated just last month with 16 new levels, Burn the Rope has received yet another free update from the folks at Big Blue Bubble, with an additional 16 stages packed full of burning fun.

Softpedia reported last month that Big Blue Bubble had rolled out an update to its immensely popular Burn the Rope, bringing the total amount of levels to 96.

The 1.1 update also included 3 new flame types, Apple Game Center support with 30 achievements, iTunes (iPod) library support, improved flame handling around corners, and a number of level tweaks with many bug fixes.

BBB took the January announcement as an opportunity to note that update 1.2 was in the works.

The developer promised an additional 16 levels, support for the iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G Retina displays, overall improved graphics and sound, full level re-design, and even more insects.

All this, and more, is now available with the release of Burn the Rope 1.2 for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. The official changelog can be found below:

What's New in Version 1.2 • Retina Support • Improved Graphics and sound • Complete level re-design • 16 new levels • 3 more insects • Speed up’ mode • Bonus rounds

Burn the Rope has players feeding a fire and burning as much rope as they can by tilting and turning their iDevices to keep the flame alive.

The game features some devilishly tricky levels with bugs that crawl along the rope, demonstrating different reactions to the flame from level to level.

According to its makers, “Burn the Rope is incredibly fun and addictive. You will actually feel like you’re burning a rope, yet there’s no need for a fire extinguisher!”

Burn the Rope is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad and requires iOS 3.0 or later.
