Lenovo has kick-started the year in style by introducing two new Chromebooks and two Windows 8 laptops aimed at the educational sector and now the company is refreshing its business portfolio, as well.

Hungarian site Tech2 has noticed the PC maker has made two new ThinkPad IdeaPad laptops available in the country.

Judging by the images they posted, the new IdeaPad M5400G and M5400A seem to very similar in design to the IdeaPad Flex versions with their silver polycarbonate cover. The large keyboard with number keypad is also characteristic of the IdeaPad and ThinkPad.

The Lenovo IdeaPad M5400A (with dedicated graphics card) and M5400G (with integrated graphics) are two laptops aimed at business users that bundle a fingerprint reader and offer users a choice between three distinct configurations.

We’re going to highlight the standard bundle here, for starters. All versions have a 15.6-inch matte display with a common 1366 x 768 pixels, while in the processor department Lenovo has added an Intel Core i5-4200M processor with 3MB cache, with frequency at 2.5-3.1GHz.

The cheapest model is the IdeaPad M5004G, which is equipped with integrated graphics, meaning Intel HD Graphics 4400. The M5400A ups things a bit in the graphic department, adding the option of NVIDIA GeForce GT 740m with 2GB of memory.

Customers can fit their laptops with either 4GB or 8GB of RAM depending on their news and storage solutions are quite extensive and include a 1TB HD or 500GB hard drive with 8B of flash memory.

The laptops are quite hefty and Lenovo managed to add a DVD burner too. Other included functionalities are VGA, HDMI, USB 2.0, two USB 3.0 ports, Wi-Fi 802.11n and Gigabit LAN.

It’s interesting to note Lenovo will be selling the two laptops in FreeDOS version (meaning with no pre-installed OS on board), but models with Windows 8 and maybe Windows 8.1 Pro (as it should be appropriate) could also make the cut.

Pricing for the new Lenovo laptops will start at the affordable $500 / €370.
