More screenshots of what could be the next MS mobile OS leak

Windows Phone 10 is work in progress at Microsoft and the company might be launching a preview build of the next mobile operating system sometime very soon, most likely at the January 21 event taking place this week and expected to detail the consumer experience in Windows 10.

In the meantime, however, screenshots claiming to reveal the upcoming mobile operating system make it to the web, even though there's no proof that they're not fake or anything.

This time, they come via the same Weibo ImLever account that provided us with another screenshot during the weekend, but again, there's still no confirmation that they're real or not.

Some people online claim that they're all fake and there's no chance that these screenshots come from an early build of the new OS, so it's hard to figure out whether we might see Windows Phone 10 looking like this.

Translucent live tiles and tile groups

If this screenshot is indeed real, it's pretty much the first confirmation that Windows Phone 10 is getting translucent live tiles, as previous leaks allegedly showing the new mobile operating system suggested a sudden change for the UI that might drop transparency completely.

On the other hand, in addition to live tiles transparency, this leaked screenshot also shows what seems to be an option to group live tiles in categories, as is currently the case on Windows 8.1's Start screen.

There are lots of unknown details right now and while some believe that Microsoft could completely drop folders for this new option, this is very unlikely to happen, as live folders are a key feature of the Windows Phone 8.1 update shipped a few months ago and also included in Denim.

Preview coming this week

As far as the preview version is concerned, it could be presented for the first time at the January 21 event, while users could be allowed to try it out shortly after that as part of a new insider program.

Windows Phone 10 could also launch under a new name, with current information pointing to Windows 10 for Phones and Windows 10 Mobile as the top options on the table.

Full details will be, however, presented on Wednesday, but we'll keep you up date with everything that pops up in the meantime.

Still, keep in mind that a lot of fake info could be released until Wednesday, so don't take anything for granted until we indeed hear something from Microsoft itself.
