ViewSonic continues in its role of display supplier with it newest monitor, a LED-backlit display whose most notable trait is the thickness, or lack thereof.
As far as the IT market goes, ViewSonic has quite a varied portfolio (it even announced
Android tablets), even if it is best known, in some circles at least, for its display solutions.
The company created many monitors, TVs and special-purpose panels over the years, and the VX2451MHP-LED
is just the latest.
The
VX2451MHP-LED monitor does a decent job of conveying some of its characteristics through its name alone, as such things tend to.
The screen diagonal, for instance, is of 24 inches, while the backlight technology is, obviously, LED.
LED, even on its own, guarantees a measure of energy efficiency, meaning that buyers will benefit from lower power costs over time, once the acquisition is made and put in the place of whatever they had before (unless they are buying a totally new computer and can't compare it to anything).
What might not be as apparent from the name, however, is the very slim design, though the photo does a much better job of relaying this detail.
The depth is, simply put, of just 3.5 centimeters (1.4 inches, give or take), which is quite the feat, considering the panel's specs.
The native resolution, for example, is one element where ViewSonic didn't cut any corners, going for the Full HD quality (1,920 x 1,080 pixels).
The dynamic contrast ratio is, likewise, in no way lacking (20,000,000:1 is an imposing figure in any situation after all).
Other specifications include HDMI 1.3 support, DVI connectivity and a 3-year on-site warranty, all for the price of £169 ($264 or 193 Euro).
Right now, only UK stores have the item on sale, and it is unclear when, if ever, other regions will receive it.
