Microsoft celebrated the one-year anniversary of Kinect by launching the official Kinect for Windows website, after resources for the peripheral were previously offered through the Microsoft Research site.

The NUI sensor’s new KinectForWindows.org home is now live and available to users around the world.

The introduction of the new site comes simultaneously with the availability of the second Beta development milestone for Kinect for Windows SDK.

In fact, Kinect for Windows SKD Beta 2 went live ahead of KinectForWindows.org, a destination where users can also download the software development kit.

But the new site offers additional resources, including walkthroughs, guidance, code samples, and a comprehensive insight into SDK’s features.

Companies and developers looking to use Kinect for Windows in commercial products will need to wait until the start of 2012.

Kinect for Windows SDK Beta 2 is available for download here.
