Microsoft is hard at work on its Kinect technology and apparently the company is already thinking about implementing the sensor into other devices, not to mention the inevitable Xbox 720 home console.

The Kinect sensor was released for the Xbox 360 back in 2010 and allowed the console to detect the movement and voice of players.

While the device became quite popular, many Xbox 360 owners are still unconvinced about its necessity.

According to recent reports, the next-generation Xbox 720 will come with a special Kinect 2.0 sensor that's much more capable of detecting various inputs.

According to The Verge, which talked with a Microsoft representative, the company wants to make the next-generation Kinect as cheap and as small as possible.

While Microsoft didn't explicitly confirm that a new version of the Kinect is coming, it did reveal that it wants to incorporate it into other devices besides consoles.
