What with the comeback madness that really reached never before seen heights last year, the New Kids on the Block, now grown men but still going under the same name, revealed that they too would record another album, much to the delight of gazillion female fans around the world. While no word is yet out on said album, the NKOTB have just announced they would embark on a quasi-tour, on board of a cruise.

“Call them New Kids on the Boat,” People magazine jokingly writes after getting confirmation of this straight from the five reunited musicians. Apparently, the move is meant not only to attract attention to the album the “boys” are currently working on and, thus to bring them back into the spotlight, but also to help them reconnect with their fans. Those, in return, have spent years and years waiting for something as big as this to happen.

In the interview with People magazine, “Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood and Jonathan and Jordan Knight announce their plans to hit the high seas for a concert cruise from May 15-18.” the mag writes. “Traveling from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. to the Bahamas, NKOTB will entertain fans on board with special performances and meet and greets. Jokes McIntyre: ‘We're not going to be drinking pina coladas, we’ll be serving them!’” it is further said in People.

Tickets for the cruise have gone on sale today. Judging by the way fans reacted to the comeback announcement the boys made in April last year, and how positively ecstatic they were about the prospect of a new NKOTB album, it is very likely that all tickets will sell as fast as hot cakes, several music-oriented media outlets point out.

While a band wanting to make a comeback on the scene after more years of hiatus can never be a bad thing, the NKOTB comeback, coming as it did after that of the Backstreet Boys and the highly mediated Spice Girls final international tour, was from the start taken with a pinch of salt. Fans of the band, one of the first of the kind and a trendsetter from this point of view, were, and continue to be hyped about all the major announcements regarding their idols.
