Logitech has revealed today their latest addition in peripherals: the Logitech Classic Keyboard 200 that can be supported by the
Wii. It is a full-sized USB keyboard, confirmed to improve several activities, also featuring this interesting drainage system that keeps it up and going while you stupidly spill your drink or spit on it. The spit part was a joke of course, and a
bad one I might add, so just forget about it.
"We are pleased to have Logitech’s support and be able to bring yet another keyboard compatible with the Nintendo Wii console," says George Harrison,
Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Logitech is the perfect partner to support Wii gamers who want to optimize their Wii experience."
Logitech confirms that the Classic Keyboard 200 is going to be ready for immediate use once you've plugged it in one of the Wii's two USB ports, found at the back of the machine. Basically, the keyboard offers the advantages of a compact form factor and low-profile keys, featuring the spill-resistant design we mentioned above: if a gamer does spill water or coffee, for example, on the keyboard during the heat of competition, a carefully designed drainage system prevents the hardware from being damaged under most circumstances, says the official report.
"Wii has infused the gaming community with tremendous new energy," said Bruce Lancaster, vice president of Logitech’s gaming business unit. "And the Logitech Classic Keyboard 200 adds value to the exciting Wii experience. Now consumers can enjoy the advantages of having a keyboard to help them manage their Wii Message Board and enter text in the Wii Internet Channel."
Another important aspect is the fact that Wii owners that are eager to try out Logitech's new Classic Keyboard 200 will need to upgrade to the latest firmware, which is 3.1. I suppose you'd like to know the keyboard's price and availability so you can return to Metroid Prime 3. Very well then – according to the report, the Logitech Classic Keyboard 200 is currently available both in the U.S. and Europe going for $14.99 (US).
