Canonical has announced last evening, September 30, that a new kernel update is available for its Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) operating system, fixing three Linux kernel 2.6 vulnerabilities discovered by various developers.

These are the three kernel vulnerabilities that affect the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) distribution: CVE-2013-0343, CVE-2013-2888, and CVE-2013-2892.

They are related to Linux kernel's IPv6 network stack and the Human Interface Device (HID) subsystem of the Linux kernel. Take a look at the official security notice issued by Canonical on September 30, 2013, for in-depth descriptions, as they affects other Linux operating systems as well.

The security flaws can be fixed if you upgrade your system(s) to the linux-image-2.6.32-52 (2.6.32-52.114) package(s). To apply the update, run the Update Manager application or follow these instructions: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Security/Upgrades.

Don't forget to reboot your computer after the upgrade!
