In a sea of remakes, sequels, and reboots, the Wachowski siblings’ work always stands out from the crowd like a breath of fresh air because, whether exceptional or less so, at least it’s always original. The same goes for their latest effort, “Jupiter Ascending.”

A new international trailer for it has been released, offering a better look at the impressive universe the Wachowskis have created especially for us. To my greatest joy, it also confirms that, for once, Sean Bean has been spared the curse of being killed in the first half hour.

Mila Kunis plays a cleaning lady who is actually the Queen of the Universe, only that she doesn’t know it just yet. When a weird creature looking like an Albino wolf-type-of-man (Channing Tatum) comes in her life just as she’s about to be killed, she finally understands that there is more to the world than meets our eye.

Eddie Redmayne of the “Les Miserables” fame plays the villain who wants the Queen dead and, from the looks of the trailer, which you will find embedded below, he seems to go about portraying the character with a sort of manic abandonment.

However, what stands out more about this new preview is the sheer beauty and the impressive scope of this new world the Wachowskis have created, but also the painful attention to detail they seem to have exercised in bringing it to the screen.

“Jupiter Ascending” is scheduled for theatrical release in July.
