They will hold the line until Haswell chips come around

Intel's central processing units can never really stay hidden, not with an entire section of the world wide web and rest of the media hounding their every step, so it's not a surprise that Celeron 1005M, 1017U, and Pentium 2127U have been detailed.

These particular CPUs were reported a while ago actually, but the specifications weren't completely known at the time.

What we did know was that the CPUs would not be based on the Haswell micro-architecture, but on Ivy Bridge.

Thus, they are bound to have decent specs but not too high, both because of the brand names (Celeron and Pentium have always been entry-level brands) and because the real show is reserved for June, when the Haswell we keep mentioning will debut.

Anyway, Intel has recently updated the specifications document for Mobile 3rd Generation Intel Core Family.

All the information is condensed in a PDF file, which can be found right here. The S-spec numbers and all major CPU characteristics for all three SKUs are inside.

The Celeron 1005M is a dual-core unit with 2 MB of L3 cache memory, HD graphics running at 350 MH / 1000 MHz Boost, and DDR3-1600 memory support. Its TDP (thermal design power) is of 35W.

The second Celeron, 1017U, is also a dual-core with 2 MB cache, but while the Integrated HD graphics works the same as above, and the memory support is identical, the power draw is of 17W. Having a frequency of just 1.6 GHz helps.

That leaves the Pentium 2127U, which is also a 17W ultra low-voltage model. It has 2 MB cache, an HD iGP with 350 MHz speed (no Turbo), DDR3-1600 support, and a frequency of 1.9 GHz.

We suspect that laptops based on these CPUs will start cropping up online and in street stores in short order.
