After talking a bit yesterday about Iomega's Personal Cloud technology, it's now time to take a very quick look at new product released by the same company that will actually leverage the advantages provided by the aforementioned advanced storage solution, namely the Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive Cloud Edition. Providing plenty of storage space (after all, the new Cloud Edition storage drives are available in 1TB and 2TB flavors), the new NAS units from Iomega fully leverage the functions enabled by the EMC LifeLine software, a fully-developed Linux OS and suite of applications meant to help the network storage units deliver a comprehensive cross-platform user experience.

The Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive Cloud Edition HDDs pack Gigabit Ethernet interfaces connecting directly to one's router, as well as two USB 2.0 ports to add storage capacity connecting external USB drives.

Moreover, the UPnP DLNA Certified AV Media Server function offers users the ability to stream multimedia content to a variety of media devices, while the device also enables the automatically posting of files to Facebook, YouTube & Flickr accounts.

Other interesting features worth mentioning here are the built-in Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP), that provides no touch, automatic transfer of photos from digital cameras via one of the two USB ports, as well as the one-touch copying feature, enabled by the QuikTransfer button on the front panel.

Last, but certainly not least, we'll have to mention that the storage offerings from Iomega offer plenty of interesting features targeting specifically the fans of all Apple products, such as a built-in iTunes server for easy playback and Time Machine support.

The new Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive Cloud Edition will be available worldwide later this month and will sell for around $169.99 (the 1TB model) or $229.99 (the 2TB model).
