AOL updated AIM a few days ago and made the 6.5 version available for download for all the users. Just as before, this latest release of AIM can be installed without any charge and includes lots of new or improved features which might bring a new chatting experience for your own pleasure. For example, the new application comes with several new color themes which are supposed to modify the interface and allow you to communicate easier. In addition, you're now able to write down some buddy notes which represent private details about your contacts that can be accessed only by you.

"With the latest release of AIM, we continue to provide our users with the tools that make it easy for them to connect and share their lives with their social circles in real-time wherever they may be," said Marcien Jenckes, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Messaging and Social Media, AOL. "As social media booms, we're introducing even more ways to help our users connect. AIM users can now send a text message to one friend or broadcast a personal message to all of their friends right from the AIM Buddy List."

AIM has always been an alternative when it came to Internet instant messaging but AOL is now struggling to change this fact and make its chatting solution one of the top solutions on the market. For example, AOL recently signed a deal with Bebo, a powerful social networking website, in order to encourage the registered members to download and install the instant messaging client. From now on, every Bebo profile has an AIM icon which indicates the user's status on the chatting program.

Moreover, it seems like AOL plans to implement several new features such as AIM profiles and AIM dashboard which are supposed to be released later this month. If you want to download the latest version of AIM, you can take it straight from Softpedia.
